1. Charlotte Van de Velde (°1988, BE)
    Lives and works in Brussels

Charlotte Van de Velde uses found pieces of jewellery and jewellery-like objects to create pictures, wearables and objects. Her work is a search for the intersection between what is valuable and what is worthless, both in a material and in an emotional sense. Using damaged and discarded objects – unique pieces as well as mass products - she questions the way we produce things and treat our belongings. By applying minimal transformations, she attempts to subtly change the nature of an object, and hence its attributed meaning and context.
